Connecting your Device to the Internet
The Beekee Box and the Beekee Hub support seamless remote access to Apps, troubleshooting, and data synchronization.
For these functions, the Beekee Box requires a wired connection via the provided Ethernet cable to a modem or a network with internet access. On the other hand, the Beekee Hub primarily uses its included mobile connectivity for its operations, but can switch to an ethernet connection in scenarios where mobile connectivity is inadequate or unavailable.
Connect your Device to the Internet via Cable
Setting up the Beekee Box and Beekee Hub is typically a hassle-free process. Just connect them to a modem or network, and they'll automatically appear online in the Cockpit, our fleet management platform, ready for effortless monitoring and management.
Advanced Network Configuration
In certain scenarios, such as when connecting the device to a network with firewalls or other security systems, or if the device does not automatically appear in the Cockpit, it may be necessary to review and adjust specific network parameters, such as ensuring the appropriate ports are open, to guarantee a successful connection.
Outbound Port Configuration
To ensure proper functionality, the following outbound TCP ports must be open:
Port 22: For secure shell (SSH) access.
Port 443: For secure web traffic (HTTPS).
Port 8088, 8883, and 8884: Specific to the Beekee services.
These ports are essential for establishing connections with the Beekee service servers and for the proper functioning of the devices.
Additional Considerations for VPC Networks
For setups involving a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), it is necessary to allow outbound UDP traffic. This ensures optimal performance and connectivity for the Beekee devices within a VPC environment.
